The subjects of the paintings are friends and family of Mrs. Maffei's through the years of 1964 - 1969. This was her earliest and most primal artwork. She delved deeply into color and form and created some of the most stunning and visually inviting works of her carreer. Mrs. Maffei has a wide variety of works from that era in addition to the portraits, but the portraits allow the viewer to keep the concept of the art constant while trying to examine the complexities of the subjects and styles.
